CANADIAN CONCEPTUALIST CREATES ICONIC TRILOGY

November 24, 2009: Conceptual artist Brian Rushton Phillips, has created an unauthorized trilogy from Robert Indiana’s undetermined 'Love, Hope' series.

Entitled 'Failing Love, Failing Hope', the project employs the iconic branding established in Indiana's 'Love, Hope' motifs to create a third composition illustrating the word 'Cope'.

The resulting trilogy examines the notion of human will; the ironies, falsehoods and desires that we mobilize to negotiate our own alienation and existance, and the fundamental questions that we ask concerning the purpose and fragility of self.
